We Started Small

Established in 1999 by directors Plunkett Curry and Seamus Cassidy, combining over 40 years’ experience of the mushroom industry, Unimush Ireland Ltd. was founded and built on four core principles: Product Quality, Innovation, Value & Service.

Today we are called U.M.I Foods – a much larger and more diverse business, but that original commitment remains unchanged.

Our focused, proactive approach has helped shape our development. From our network of local producers and suppliers, we’re valued associates – expanding the market and constantly driving up standards.

For our customers we’re collaborators, innovators and trusted partners, providing extensive product capabilities through a safe and controlled supply chain.

With nearly 100 colleagues today and operating in a modern 30k square foot facility, we have grown, but remain very much grounded by our roots.

    Our collective experience of the mushroom industry extends back through generations. We know the dedication and effort it takes to produce perfect, great-tasting mushrooms year in and year out.

    Our producers are local, valued for their quality and very much at the heart of everything we do.

    From Sauces to Spices, Stilton to Sweet Potato, we source only the finest quality ingredients for our Prepared Foods division. Our suppliers are pre-audited to meet specific ethical and technical standards, ensuring our clients the highest standard of due diligence.

  • Seamus Cassidy

    Director

    With over 25 years’ Mushroom production and marketing experience, Seamus is a visionary and a great mentor to the senior team. Providing direction on sales and logistical requirements, he is passionate about delivering on promise.

    With over 30 years’ experience in Mushroom production and marketing, Plunkett provides invaluable knowledge, and guidance to the senior team. “At U.M.I Foods, we aspire to build confidence with our clients and take pride in our standards. From product innovation, supply chain integrity and credible service levels, we are a business that our clients can trust”.

  • Paul Curry

    Operations & Procurement Manager

    With 10 years’ experience in Mushroom production and a further 7 years working with U.M.I Foods, Paul is responsible for our operational and purchasing requirements.
    “I enjoy the multifaceted nature of my role, from developing productive supply relations to managing our engineering and operational requirements. I am proud of our team and our ability to deliver consistently high standards of product and service”.

    Assistant Product Development Manager

    An ambitious and valued colleague, Victoria works closely with client development teams to deliver new product initiatives.
    “We aim to work ahead of client briefs, ensuring NPD is built on emerging or current market trends. I enjoy collaborating with client product managers, taking products from conception to launch and experiencing the contribution we bring to category development”.

    Sales & Marketing Administrator

    Nathan plays a pivotal role in delivering our commitment on customer support and administers our sales & marketing initiatives across our business channels.
    “I am responsible for client care, ensuring standards and timeframes are honoured. I look after our sales and marketing initiatives which cover many aspects, offering me diversity and challenge which I really enjoy”.

    Intake & Dispatch Manager

    Having held several key supervisory positions within the business, Nathan now manages our Intake & Dispatch function. “As Intake & Dispatch Manager I am in regular contact with our Mushroom growers procuring consistent & quality supply for our customers and Prepared Foods Division. I also liaise closely with our Logistics operators to ensure efficient and timely deliveries of goods from us to our customers”.

    Accounts Manager

    Cathy is a long serving colleague of U.M.I Foods, managing our accounting function for over 10 years.
    “I have seen the business develop from humble beginnings. Managing our accounting department, a small but busy team, I ensure supplier and client transactions are completed in a precise and timely manner”.

  • Gerry Woods

    Accounts Administrator

    Joining the business in 2011, Gerry is responsible for accounts administration and overseeing transactions for bulk and retail Mushroom trading.
    “My role involves daily interaction with customers and suppliers which I really enjoy. I look after accounts for our Mushroom division as well as supporting in general administrative duties”.

    Office & Payroll Manager

    Working with the business since the beginning, Una manages our payroll and general office functions. “I’ve experienced many changes during my time at U.M.I Foods and enjoy being part of a progressive business. Working closely with colleagues, I appreciate the positive culture and confidence we display as a team”.
